Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan and it is the second largest city of the country. It's name has been changed a couple of times in the past and it became the capital in 1998. Currently, Astana is under a great transformation because they want to make it look worthy as a capital of Kazakhstan. 

Transportation in and around Astana

The easiest way to get in Astana is by plane since there is an International airport which serves a lot of big cities in the world. There is also always the option to get in by bus or just get in by car. Once in Astana you can get around either by taxi or by bus. You can also rent a car.

Even though it is under transformation there are a great number of things that one can see in Astana which are definitely worth a glance. There is the Baiterek Tower, a.k.a "Chupa Chups" because it resembles a giant lollipop. It is about 100m tall and offers a great view of the city. Then you can see the Khan Shatyr which is a giant tent inside of which there is a park, shopping area, boating river and other things. Another place is the President's Museum of Kazakhstan which you can visit if you want to get in touch with the history of the country. If you want to see a miniature version of Kazakhstan then visit Atameken Map of Kazakhstan. There is a look-alike pyramid building in Astana called Palace of Peace and Reconciliation which offers a great view of the city, museums, art galleries, opera hall and a cafe. If you are more nature and animal lover than the perfect place for you is the Duman. The Duman is an entertainment complex where you can find an oceanarium, theatre and other things.
