Santa Clara, Cuba: Getting around

Santa Clara's Abel Santamaría Airport has both domestic and some international flights, mostly charter flights bringing visitors on package tours to la Cayería del Norte.

The city is easily accessible from Havan, by car on the Autopista Nacional; however, be weary of scam artists trying to trick tourists with faulty directions and demanding money.

The Viazul bus service travels daily through Santa Clara, on the Havan-Santiago de Cuba, Havana-Holguín and Cuba, Varadero-Trinidad lines. The city is also crossed by the country’s main railway line.

Taxis are cheap and plentiful within Santa Clara. If you can’t find one on the street, just call Cubataxi (tel. 42/22-2555). Other means of transportation in the city include tuk-tuks (bicycles or motorbikes with a carriage) or horse and carriages. The car rental agencies in Santa Clara are Havanautos, Cubacar, Micar and Rex.
