Bled is a famous destination in Slovenia because of its romantic scenery and because it is an access point for Triglav National Park which includes numerous outdoor adventure activities. The town has a little white chuch on an island in the center of an emerald green mountain lake. The Bled Castle is located high above, in the middle of Julian Alps. Bled has a quite picturesque scenery with its mountains, the lake and the island. On the island in the middle of the lake, the story is that the ancient Slavs worshipped Ziva, goddess of love and fertility. When the Holy German Emperor, Henry II gifted Bled to the Bishop of Brixen, Bled was mentioned for the first time. The town advanced during the Middle ages because of pilgrims and these were replaced in the 19th century by the first tourists. The gentle climate and the health spa supplemented by lake was discovered by the Swiss hydropathist, Arnold Rikli. Therefore, the town almost got famous at the beginning of the 20th century known as the most beautiful health spa of the then Austrian empire.
