Getting around Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Travel/Tourist Information Guide

Once you arrive in Dubai there are a number of ways by which you can get around the city and all of them have their benefits.

By car

Getting around by car in Dubai is pretty economical. There are a lot of rent a car facilities where you can get a car. Just keep in mind that you will need an international driver's licence or a temporary Dubai license. Driving is on the right-hand side. The roads in Dubai are excellent for driving but they are usually crowded. However, if you drive carefully everything is going to be okay.

By taxi

The taxis in Dubai are safe, not really expensive and they can be clearly seen. If you are not able to find one then you can easily call for one from Dubai Taxi Corporation. There are seven taxi companies in Dubai. 

By bus

There are over 70 bus routes across Dubai. The fee is not really big but you must first buy a Nol card before getting on a bus.

By metro

There is a Red Line that goes almost through the whole city of Dubai. Buying a Nol card is mandatory before getting on a metro.

By monorail

The monorail is a new means of transport n Dubai and it goes from the Palm Jumeirah to the Atlantis Hotel.

By water taxi

The water taxis are called abras and are the best way if you want to travel across the Dubai Creek. There are four abra stations on both sides of the creek.
