Bangkok is the bustling capital city of Thailand that situated in the center of the country. The city of Bangkok is Southeast Asia's primary travel hub. It is located at the basin of the Chao Phraya River. The city is not a mountainous place, but it has canals and rivers passing the city and its major tourist attractions. As the capital city of Thailand, it is the center of commerce and communication. With a population of 14 million, Bangkok is the largest and busiest city in Thailand and it is divided into 50 districts. The city offers a lot of tourist attractions. It is a metropolis known for its ornate shrines and vibrant street lights. The Chao Phraya River flows past the Rattanakosin Royal District; it is where the Royal Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha Temple is located. Bangkok also boasts the Wat Arun for its steep steps and beautiful lighting at night. Nearby is Wat Pho, which is famed for its reclining Buddha. Aside from the tourist attractions, there's a lot more things to do in the city like shopping and dining. When the day ends, the city's nightlife is very alive and energetic with bars and clubs that are open seven days a week. With the unending parties, there are places that are packed with bars and dance clubs like the Khao San Road, Soi Rambuttri, and Thonglor. With the large area of the city, its plenty tourist attractions and the vibrant nightlife, a day will not be enough to get around the city. There are hotels that offer great and comfortable accommodation that are available in every street of the city. There are luxurious hotels like the Sofitel So Bangkok and the Shangri-La Hotel. On a tight budget, there are cheap places to stay in the city with the most famous area for budget traveler being the Khao San Road. The hotels also provide assistance for tours and excursions to the places at the outskirts of the city. There are simple day trips and exciting tours that includes biking, trekking, and hiking.
Most people arrive to Bangkok by plane. The city has two major airports: Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport. The Suvarnabhumi Airport is the main airport that is catering to international and domestic flights. All of the airlines use this airport except for the Nok Air, the Orient Thai, and the Air Asia. These airlines still uses the old Don Muang Airport. From the airports, there are buses, taxis, and a train station nearby that are available in order to reach the city proper. Another way to get to Bangkok is by ship. Although there are few numbers of people going to the city by ship, there are two ports available in the city. Large ships dock at Laem Chabang Port, which is located 90 minutes southeast of Bangkok and 30 minutes north of Pattaya. Smaller ships dock at Khlong Toei Port, this is closer to the city center. There are buses, taxis and other modes of transport in getting around the city.
