Syria: Travel/Tourist Information Guide

Syria is one of the largest states in the Middle East which borders with Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Lebanon. It has a short seashore on the Mediterranean Sea. The capital of Syria is Damascus.

Syria has rich historical sites which can be seen. There are a number of ancient cities such as Aleppo, Crac des Chevaliers, Damascus, Bosra and Palmyra. Another interesting thing that one can see in Syria are the Al Aasi Water Wheels in a river. There is also the Al Hosn Castle in Homs and Tartous - an ancient city with an amazing fortress. Another amazing thing to see is Qala'at Samaan (a.k.a. Church of Saint Simeon Stylites) - the oldest surviving Byzantine Church which dates back to the 5th century.
