Beruwala is known for its attractive beaches. Travellers should keep in mind that the beaches in the town are not available for swimming. The actual beaches are located in the south of the town. One of the most beautiful beaches, the Golden Mile is located in Beruwala and it is a broad beach with gold sand. The beach is also surrounded by palm groves that stretch to the coastal area. It is also possible to join water sports such as water scooter ride, parasailing, water skiing, windsurfing etc. The bay is safe for swimming.
Kalutara is famous for its long and sandy beaches which are easily accessible from Colombo Airport. The beach is ideal for tourists looking for a peaceful and quiet retreat to enjoy a day among the coconut palm trees. Kalutara South beaches are recognized as the finest in Sri Lanka. The golden beach is excellent for swimming.
Wadduwa Beach is located only 8 km from Kalutara. The beach is a beautiful palm-lined beach. It is usually less crowded and less frequented by tourists. Wadduwa is supposed to be famous for the production of vinegar.
It is a wonderful marshland spread over 6000 hectare land in Negombo. It is located in the south of Negombo and it holds 192 species of wildlife. It is the largest march in Sri Lanka based on eco system. It is possible to take a 2 -3 hour wildlife viewing boat tour from the Muthurajawela Visitor Centre. The boat carries around 12 people. There is also a tiny museum at the center.
Negombo is a beautiful beach resort on the western coast of Sri Lanka. The wide sandy beaches and the safe sea are the major tourist attractions. It is also safe for water sports and most hotels and private vendors provide equipment for water sports.
The lagoon covers an area of 3164 hectares. It is located 40 km north of Colombo. The lagoon is part of the much larger Muthurawajawela Marsh and Negombo Lagoon Coastal wetland.
