Cebu is a long and narrow island located in the Visaya Sea in the Philippine archipelago. This island lies between the islands of Bohol and Negros. The Philippines is an archipelago of over 7.000 islands and Cebu is the most popular tourist destination. It is the oldest Spanish settlement in the Philippines after being conquered by Magellan at the end of the sixteenth century and since then it turned into the major trade hub of the archipelago. It has many remnants of its Spanish past in its architecture and culture, Cebu is mainly a Catholic faith.
Cebu has a good tourism infrastructure and many people from all over the world travel here to enjoy the sun and beaches as well as cultural tourism and especially scuba diving and snorkelling off its shores and off the smaller islands around it such as Mactan island.
