This region is a hill range split between the Himalayas and Tarai Mountain Range. The region includes cities like Baitadi, Bandipur, Butwal, Gaunshahar, Gorkha, Haleshi,Pokhara, Tangting and Tansen. This region is with green alpine meadows, forests and lakes. The main city of this region is Pokhara which is also the most visited place in the region. Pokhara is also the second largest city in Nepal and it is one of the most famous tourist attractions with a population of 90,000. It is located on the northwest of Pokhara Valley that lies in the northern Himalaya Range and situated at an altitude of 827 m from the sea level. The city’s distance Kathmandu is approximately 200 km. It is also the beginning point for most of the treks in the Annapurna area. Another popular city in this region is Bandipur. Bandipur is a hilltop settlement and a municipality located in Tanahun District of Nepal. It was establishes on 18 May 2014 by merging with existing Dharampani and Bandipur VDCs. Because Bandipur has a preserved and old time cultural atmosphere, it has been becoming an attention of tourists. Bandipur is located around 143 km to the west of Kathmandu and 80 km east of Pokhara. This settlement used to be originally a simple Magar village in the early 19th century and later developed into a prosperous trading center and a community with town-like features such as substantial buildings. Due to the fall of trading in 1970s, most of the people abandoned the town and Bandipur turned into a semi-ghost town. Nowadays, it is a Newar town with its age-old flavor intact. Lastly, Tansen is a Municipality and the administrative center of Palpa District of Nepal. Many people commonly refer Tansen as Palpa. It is located on the highway between Butwal and Pokhara. Tansen is known for its education system as Palpa District’s literacy rate is 100 per cent. The city is an old western Newari city and it holds historical Newari architecture. Years ago, it was the capital of Magar realm. This is considered the most developed realm, which in turn made Palpa most developed as well. Tansen is located 4300 meters above sea level. Major attractions here are the ancient culture, mountain views, serene atmosphere and friendly people. The weather is pleasant in any season. On clear days, peaks such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu and Gauri Shankar can be seen. This town is the origin of Dhaka which is the most popular hand woven cloth of Nepal.
