Outings and excursions from Vaduz in Liechtenstein

The official guided tour of the city of Vaduz takes you through the city, explaining the culture and history on the way. There are visits to the Postage Stamp Museum and participants are given the famous souvenir stamp of the Principality of Liechtenstein in their passports.

After experiencing the historic city centre, there are plenty of other trips and outings to explore. There is the famous Prince of Liechtenstein Winery to see, and indulge in a wine sampling.

Cyclists can explore the greenery of the Rhine Valley for themselves as they make their way along the 50-odd miles of official cycle track. For walkers, there is a good choice of marked trails, which also allow mountain bikes. There are several good guides and high mountain tracks with outstanding views of the peaks and valleys below.

For those more into city attractions, day trips to the Austrian skiing mecca of Innsbruck is easy by train, or east into Switzerland to Lucerne or Zurich for some serious shopping and night life. And for the ultimate fairy-tale castle experience, head for the town of Balzers to see Gutenberg Castle. It is one of five castles in the principality and has survived to the present day in remarkably good condition.

For families with children, the Malbi Park area in Malbun is a great place for lessons in skiing and snowboarding in winter. In summer there are themed hiking trails, swimming pools and lots of sports activities including pony riding and theme parks.
