Public buses are the easiest and cheapest way to get around Kuwait City. Most buses are under the Kuwait Public Transport Company. There are also other companies: City Bus and KGL. The last two are private companies, but their prices are also affordable. KGL offers transportation to other countries as well. The lowest fare is offered by KPTC. Buses are a great way to get around the city since they will take you to all the most popular attractions for a low price.
Another popular way to get around the city is by ferry. It is the best way to reach other nations of the Gulf. In the city, there are two large harbours and ports from where the ferries leave three times a week. These ferries will take you to other countries such as Bahrain and Iran.
Renting a car in Kuwait City is very easy, but keep in mind that you must have an international drivers licence. It is also advisable to get a statutory temporary insurance, just in case. If you are not a very experienced driver you will need some time to get used to driving in Kuwait City, because the traffic is pretty intense. It can be pretty chaotic, so be very careful. Do not use your phone while driving, and if my any chance do not move your car if you get in an accident, it might get you arrested.
Taxis are a pretty popular way around the city. There are many taxis waiting outside the airport if you need to get to the city and a lot of hotels offer taxi services which they find reliable and safe. The local taxis have an orange licence plate. The prices are fair. The most popular taxi companies are Al-Salmiyah Taxi and Al-Ghanim Taxi. It is fairly easy to get a taxi, but sometimes it might be recommendable that you book a taxi beforehand.
