Central Asia is most popular for being the place where so-called 'stans' are located. 'Stans' stand for rugged countries which have limited arable land, which have been coveted in history for their position between Europe and East Asia. The population in these countries is mostly poor, primarily Muslim, Turkish-speaking people. All of the countries in Central Asia, except for Afghanistan, have been part of the Soviet republics.

Central Asia's landscape is mostly filled with mountains and steppes. But the scene of these mountains is very beautiful and has been the backdrop for a number of empires. If you ever decide to go to some of the Centrals Asian countries that you must definitely go on a tour of the mountains or the countryside.
